Project Outline

The project involved an extension to an existing dwelling with the construction of a new single storey structure at the rear. This new extension is at garden level at the rear, a half level below the front entrance level.

The new extension allowed for the opening up of the existing garden level plan to provide for a new kitchen, dining and daily living area. A separate utility space as well as a ground floor WC were also included in the revised plan for this space.

The main first floor bathroom was also upgraded as part of the works, as well as the provision of a new ensuite facaility off of the main bedroom.

Original Plan

The original plan of the house prior to the works, shown here below, included a relatively small kitchen area in comparison with the other main rooms in the house. Alongside this was a dining/sitting area with a window out toward the rear garden.

Project Plan

The new plan for this level extended the floor area at this level out into the rear garden and greatly increased the size of the kitchen space with a utility area provided alongside. An open plan dining and living area are provided with full height sliding glass doors opening out onto a rear patio and the rear garden.
